Those who shared a fearful name
They slithered out from harbour cold
Into the town, they were that bold
To do so in the light of day
With only fog to hide their way
In homes they slunk, to wait and see
The smiles of children who looked ‘neath tree
To find among the gifts and toys
Deep ones who fed ‘pon girls and boys
